It is important to celebrate student’s success because it will motivate them to push themselves even further.
Successful classrooms also have an environment of respect for others as well as self-respect, which decreases the likelihood of bullying, violence, and other negative behaviors.
To create a successful classroom environment, teachers need to be supportive mentors who are able to build relationships with their students that result in greater academic achievement and more positive behaviors overall.
If students are celebrated, they will start to develop confidence in themselves. Confidence is a big part of maturing into adults that are able to find success.
Some parents don’t know how to celebrate their children’s success in the classroom. This can lead to kids getting discouraged because they feel like they are not good enough, which could impact their self-esteem and make them lose interest in school.
Parents can focus on praising their children when they do well instead of looking for mistakes or discouraging behaviors. They should also make an effort to stop comparing their child to other kids, as this will only lead to feelings of inadequacy if their children don’t measure up against others’.
One way that teachers can celebrate student success is by giving them a special treat. Students can be rewarded with a treat for doing something they usually do not enjoy doing, such as completing their homework assignments. Monthly Observations
Students progress all year long, so don’t wait until summer break to celebrate what they’ve done. A top ten list of what students have done at the end of each month is an excellent way to observe how well they did. Think back on the month and what they have done. What are they most excited about?
What do they think they’ve done that they’re most proud of? Write down between three and ten things they did well this month. People say that it doesn’t have to be a big thing, like getting better at the passive voice. Even small things seem essential if you order your first meal in English.
If you want, you can start the year by having students set aside ten pages at the start of a notebook. Then, each month, they should write a list on one of the pages. Students can look back at their inventory at the end of the year and see at least 30 things they did.
Transfer their list to a piece of construction paper cut out in a shape that corresponds to each month (Sept. fall leaf, October pumpkin, November turkey – you get the idea). A bulletin board in your classroom should be empty for this. There will be a new list of students each month, so keep adding to it. Learners will not only be able to visit what they’ve done, but they will also be able to celebrate the achievements of their friends.
Putting out the Red Carpet
A red carpet event in the classroom would be what? Not someone who celebrates movies or TV shows, but someone who celebrates their achievements. A red carpet event is an excellent way to award students who have done well. You can do this at the end of the year or some point in the middle. You might get a prize for the best speech, the best presentation, the most vocabulary words you learned, or something else.
Select your categories, and then choose who will bring the awards to your class after you do that. Request your students to dress up and then have an Oscars-style ceremony in style, like in the movies. If you want, you can even do red carpet interviews with your students at the start of the event to practice their speaking skills.
Write a letter to each of your kids
To write a letter to our student to celebrate a specific achievement, think about writing one. Make it a personal note to you and your student when you write it. In it, you should say how your student has grown and how proud you are of their achievements.
When you put a star next to their name on the board, it’s a great way to show your students how well they’re doing every day. As well as showing your success, it will also encourage them to do better. It will also remind how well they did when they didn’t learn as quickly as other times. Try to write to each student at least once or twice during the school year to help them achieve more.
Party on Test Day
As a way to celebrate your students’ achievements, think about having a party on the day you take your test instead of waiting to see what the grades are before you do anything. How hard is it to learn a second language? It’s easy to look at all the things you don’t know and how much you don’t understand, rather than how much you do. Plan a party for test day to keep students from thinking about their results.
Decorate the room, put out food, and maybe even play music in the background while students take a unit end test or the last exam for a class. When your students finish the unit, they will feel good about it and be inspired by their success. Most likely, that will lead to better grades on the test. Todd Finley set up a party before the test during an experiment with college students and found that it helped students get better rates.
In the Spotlight Moments
Give your students a picture at the front of the class to show them how much they’ve done. Get a clear glass container for your classroom, as well as a bunch of small glass pebbles. Because these are in the floral department of your local craft store, you can find them there.
Request students to reach the front of the class once a week or as often as you want. They can talk about a good thing they did this week. They then put a glass pebble in the jar to show everyone how well they did. All of them can share with the class as many times as they want. It will get more prominent as the school year goes on, and your students will be able to visit how far they’ve arrived as a class.
